WHY SHOULD I TRAIN MY DOG? When families choose a dog or a puppy to share their homes, they usually hope that their new addition will fit in with their lifestyle as well as bring joy, and companionship to the whole family.
If you choose to attend an Obedience Dog Club to learn how to train your dog, there will be advantages for both the dog and the handler.
OBEDIENCE
Obedience is the foundation for all diciplines in dog sports eg: obedience, tracking, agility/jumping, fly ball, herding, or just having fun and a well mannered companion.
Experienced Instructors can assist you in achieving your goals in having a social pet you can take out into society and not cause a problem. On running free, come when called, be touched by a stranger and not move (vets will thank you for this training excerise), drop from a distance (a great exercise if your dog is across a road and a car is coming)
If you wish to continue further with your obedience training Instructors will assist you with exercises such as retrieving, jumping, scent discrimination, out of sight stays and much more.
Training Times: Tuesday nights
Class 4, 5, 6, ring work - 7:00pm to 7:45pm
Beginners, Class 1, 2, 3 - 8:00pm to 8:45pm
We recommend you arrive 15mins prior to check in, socialise and settle your dog.
AGILITY
Agility began as an exhibiton for spectators at Crufts Dog Show, UK in 1978 and is now the fastest growing dog sport in the world.
It is a fun sport which requires the dog to navigate a course of tunnels, jumps, A frame and see saw in a race against the clock. It requires skill, teamwork and speed by the dog but steadiness of work is important to achieve a precise and faultless performance.
Training times: Thursday nights 6:30pm
Please remember that due to the amount of equipment, we ask that everyone helps set up and pack up.
